About Us
The Guesthouse ‘Op Plaasvlak’ is situated on the working farm ‘Vlakfontein’, on the border between the Free State and KZN. This extraordinary and tranquil farm is the perfect place for families to relax.
‘Op Plaasvlak’ features two fully equipped farm houses which can be booked as one unit.
When owner, Werner de Jager, bought the property, the big house was renovated to cater for bigger groups. It can accommodate twelve people in six bedrooms.
The smaller of the two houses is the original building on the property. It houses six people and is used in conjunction with the big house for large family-get-togethers. Book this farmhouse to make marvellous memories. We pride ourselves in the peace and quiet that Op Plaasvlak offers!

Big House
Comprises 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Three of the bedrooms are furnished with double beds, and the two remaining bedrooms are each
furnished with two single beds. To accommodate even larger groups, there are two single beds in the play room. All the bedrooms in this house are equipped with wall heaters to trump the frosty Eastern Free State
winters. Both bathrooms are fitted with a bath, shower, toilet and basin.

Small House
Add this house to your booking if you need more beds. It can be joined with the big house and provides two extra rooms and two extra bathrooms. One room has a double bed and one room has two three-quarter beds. To create even more space, there are two single beds in the lounge. One bathroom has a bath, basin and toilet; the other bathroom is equipped with bath, shower, basin and toilet. Down-like duvets and bathroom towels are provided.

The open-plan kitchen, dining room, living room & braai area offers enough space for the perfect family get-together.
In the winter you can enjoy the fireplace in this luxurious home away from home.
One Nespresso capsule per person on arrival & wood would be provided.
The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering with a fridge-freezer, stove and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, and a dishwasher. The dining area contains an 8-seater dining table and chairs.
The lounge area contains comfortable seating and a flat-screen TV for when it’s a rainy day
guests can enjoy a nice movie on the Dvd machine provided, please do bring your own Dvd’s.
In the entertainment area you can have a friendly game of pool with friends & family.
The rooms are equipped with nice down duvets & bathroom towels.
We have one house rule, please do not smoke indoors!

There is a lapa and picnic area at the dam under giant willow trees.
It’s an ideal gathering place where friends and family can braai, fish, swim, kayak, zipline, have a picnic, and make memories.
Attractions such as Amajuba Mountain are approximately 21 km away.
Cyclists can ride their bikes there and enjoy the historic excursion.
Seekoeivlei Nature Reserve is close by and large flocks of birds visit this unique waterfowl habitat. Scarce and endangered species such as the Wattled, Crowned and Blue Cranes can be seen there.
The Three Provinces 4×4 route is 40 km from the guest house, and the property is only 46 km from Newcastle to facilitate urgent shopping.
